Houston police were alerted by other drivers around 12:30 am that a man in a red truck was weaving in lanes and was possibly driving while intoxicated. Police spotted the suspected drunk driver near the North Freeway and Main and attempted to pull the vehicle over. Officers reported that the man refused to pull over and instead led police on a chase to the northwest Houston area. Police followed the truck as it traveled on the North Loop and then to Highway 290. Spike strips were set out on several occasions in an attempt to force the vehicle to stop but the driver managed to get around the strips. The truck sideswiped the cement barriers along the sides of the freeway multiple times during the pursuit. The truck later exited the highway at 43rd Street and finally came to a stop outside the location of his workplace. The man was then arrested by officers without any further incident. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated and felony evading officers. Reports do not indicate what tests were done to determine intoxication or what alcohol or drug he is accused of being under the influence of at the time of his arrest.
