Young Women Kills Her 2 Friends in Drunk Driving Crash

El Paso – A young women who killed her two friends while drunk driving is now facing charges of intoxication assault and
intoxication manslaughter.
On the night of January 20th, Gabriela Delgado, 20, was drinking with her two girlfriends celebrating her friend, Evalynn Rose’s 21
st birthday.
According to the El Paso Police, the recently released toxicology results revealed that Gabriela Delgado,20, was drunk driving when she failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming vehicle at the intersection of Lee and Turner around 2:14 a.m. Delgado was driving a 2007 Chevy Aveo which was hit by a Dodge Charger. Delgado’s two backseat passengers, Evalynn Rose, 21 and Jeanette Lazaro, 21, died at the scene of the crash. The other driver was identified as Arturo Vasquez, who also happened to be drinking and driving. He had been drinking at a nearby bar and grill before the accident. Police do not believe he was responsible for the crash; therefore he is only facing a DWI charge.
Delgado was taken to the El Paso County Jail, where she was booked on two counts of intoxicated manslaughter and two counts of intoxicated assault. Her bond was set at $130,000.
Intoxication Assault in Texas
Under Texas Penal Code Section 49.07, a person is guilty of Intoxication Assault when they operate a motor vehicle, aircraft, watercraft or amusement ride (in public) while intoxicated and, as a result of that intoxication, they cause serious bodily injury to another person.
Intoxication Assault is a 3rd degree felony in Texas, and it is punishable by 2 to 10 years in the Texas Department of Corrections and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
