A Chicago teen has been charged recently in connection with an accident that left a five-year-old girl dead. According to reports the 18-year-old teen, C.R., was driving her car on a Highland Park street when she swerved onto the sidewalk and injured four pedestrians. The little girl was with her mother and two younger siblings—brothers aged two and four. All four of the injured pedestrians were rushed to a local hospital but the little girl did not survive her injuries. C.R. was not injured in the accident and was arrested at the scene by officers on suspicion of driving under the influence. Blood tests determined that C.R. had Diflouoroethane in her system. Investigators found a can of computer dust cleaner in her car which contains the chemical. It is believed that she had inhaled the cleaner just prior to the accident. Make sure you have an experienced DUI defense lawyer on your side if you have been charged with any drunk driving or driving under the influence of drugs or intoxicants offense.
Teen Faces Severe Felony Charges
C.R. was charged with four counts of aggravated driving under the influence of an intoxicating compound and one count of reckless homicide (a form of vehicular homicide). Since the teen is an adult she could receive a lengthy imprisonment sentence, thousands in fines and other penalties if she is convicted of these felony charges. A lawsuit was also filed against C.R. by the surviving family of the five-year-old that died in the incident.
