30-year-old C.W. was taken into custody after a string of alleged traffic and criminal offenses. The woman reportedly stole a fire department ambulance which was parked outside a Chicago hospital around 11:00 at night. She proceeded to drive the vehicle about a mile down the nearby expressway headed east. She then crashed the ambulance into another vehicle. C.W. was not injured in the accident and was taken into custody by officers which arrived on the scene shortly after the incident. Besides charges for stealing the ambulance, it was found that she was driving while license suspended (DWLS) and driving while under the influence (DUI) of alcohol. Investigators are trying to determine what led the woman to stealing the ambulance at the hospital. If you or a loved one has a legal issue with a traffic violation then you should speak with a Chicago traffic ticket attorney as soon as you can. It may be possible to fight the ticket and avoid serious penalties.
About Driving While License Suspended in Chicago
It is illegal in Chicago and the rest of the state to drive a vehicle with a suspended or revoked driver's license. DWLS is a misdemeanor offense punishable by one year in jail as well as a possible fine of up to $2,500 and other penalties such as community service, probation, etc. If you were not notified of your license suspension by the Illinois Secretary of State or if you feel there has been some other circumstance which led to you being cited for driving while license suspended, a lawyer well-versed in this area of law may be able to help.
