Chicago Man Charged with Felony DUI after Fatal Car Accident involving Drugs

According to Chicago Police records, the accident occurred around 1:00 in the morning on a recent Saturday. 20-year-old G.P. was driving a late model SUV with five passengers. He apparently approached an intersection and failed to stop for the red light. He narrowly missed colliding with a semi truck heading east through the intersection. After that, the SUV crashed into a traffic light pole with such force that all six of the people in the SUV were ejected. The SUV also burst into flames upon impact with the pole. Emergency personnel arriving at the scene found three people already dead. G.P., along with two others, was in critical condition and rushed to a local hospital. A fourth individual died at the hospital. The other surviving passenger remained in critical condition. G.P. was discovered to have marijuana in his system at the time of the accident and was charged with DUI of drugs along with several other charges at the time of the accident.
