Montana Man Driving 134 mph Charged with a DUI

Some people just love to drive fast, but when a Montana man was clocked at 134 miles per hour in a 50 miles per hour zone, the police thought it must be more than an adrenaline. The man with the pedal to the metal is a 32-year-old with the initials S.B. He made is initial appearance in the Justice Court on Monday and was charged with a DUI, felony criminal endangerment and misdemeanor counts of speeding and driving without a license and proof of insurance. S.B.'s bail was set at $15,000. Supposedly, when he was pulled over for speeding there was a passenger who was unconscious riding alongside S.B. Often when a person is impaired by alcohol they will make foolish decisions like speeding and swerving.

While the police need a reason to pull someone over, they often can detect a drink driver when they notice these illegal maneuvers on the road. Even if the police had not been there to see S.B. zooming down the highway, another driver may have called to report that there was someone driving at a fatal speed. The Montana law code describes criminal endangerment as an offense which is committed when a person knowingly engages in an activity that could create a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury to another. In this case, S.B. was endangering other drivers on the road as well as the passenger in his vehicle. A person who is convicted of this crime in Montana will be fined up to $50,000. As well, the offender can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. S.B. may also face prison time for his DUI and will have to pay for the misdemeanors if charged. He is currently awaiting his trial.
