Redding Man Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter for Death of 21 Year Old

On Wednesday, a 20-year-old man from Redding was arrested for suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. Police say that the man was driving under the influence and was connected to the death of a 21-year-old woman. This week, the man pled not guilty to his charges while inside Shasta County Superior Court.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers arrested Stephen James Baker during evening hours for suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter for the death of Emily Jean Weaver.
This week, a public defender was appointed to represent Baker, who is set to have a preliminary hearing on September 30th. At this time, he remains in police custody in lieu of $100,000 bail.
