The California High Patrol announced that it is offering a public safety program for both teenage drivers and their parents. The CHP will be offering the new program, Start Smart, in conjunction with the Ventura County Medical Center.
According to the CHP, Start Smart was created to help future and newly licensed teenage drivers become more aware of their driving responsibilities. The program is meant to reduce the number of teen deaths and injuries that largely stem from collisions, which is the leading cause of death for 15 to 20 year olds.
Start Smart also gives participants information on traffic laws, tips on avoiding collisions, defensive driving as well as DUI awareness. All of the classes are free and will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday in the Ventura County Medical Center's new cafeteria.
