Young Girl Dies After DUI Accident

A young girl's life was taken away much too early when a man driving under the influence caused a car accident in Vinemont. Kenneth Burns, 45, was taken into custody on DUI charges after the accident that occurred on Friday night around 9:45 PM.

Officers with the Alabama State Troopers office continue to investigate the accident that occurred on U.S. 31.

However, according to public information officer Curtis Somerville, the investigation will then be turned over to the Cullman County District Attorney's office.

The little girl, 8-year-old Hayley Ryan of Louisville, Kentucky, was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
