Teacher Arrested for DUI in Alabama While Heading to Work

In Mobile, Alabama, it is reported that a teacher was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) this past Tuesday.  Sadly, the teacher, Suzanne Morrison, was driving to work at a local school while intoxicated.

Morrison was stopped by law enforcement after they noticed that she was driving rather erratically on Tuesday morning.  Police pulled her over and discovered that she smelled of alcohol.

Morrison, who is a former Teacher of the Year at Chickasaw School of Mathematics and Science, was reportedly weaving through traffic lanes on Interstate 10 at approximately 8 AM.  When spotted by police, they noted that she had been drinking from a cup while she was driving.   After police pulled her over, they found that the cup had been filled with alcohol.
Morrison was on her way to fill in as a physical education teacher at a local school when she was stopped by police.  She failed the field sobriety tests and also her breath test.  At this time, police have not disclosed the result of her breath test, but have told reporters that Morrison was officially charged with DUI.  She was booked at the Mobile County Metro Jail and stayed there in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Administrators from the school district have said that Morrison has been placed on suspension.  They are waiting for more details about the arrest before taking additional action, such as removing Morrison from her teaching duties permanently.
