Police Officer Hit by Suspected Drunk Driver

A Las Vegas Metro officer was struck by a vehicle recently while at a stop to investigate a car accident. The policeman was responding to a call concerning a vehicle crash around 7:20 in the evening near an intersection when the incident occurred. A pickup truck was passing the officers location and hit him in the right leg as it went by. The vehicle did not stop but continued down the street. Shortly after hitting the officer, the truck careened off the road and collided with some fencing on the perimeter of a nearby apartment building.

The two women inside the pickup were rushed to local medical centers for injuries sustained in the collision. The police officer was taken to University Medical Center for minor injuries and was released shortly after. Authorities reported that the female driver of the pickup truck will be taken into custody for DUI after she is released from the hospital. The driver also faces charges for hit and run.
