Justin Bieber Pleads Not Guilty to DUI

Not yet the legal age to drink alcohol, 19 year-old teen heart throb Justin Bieber has pleaded not guilty to all charges connected to a Florida arrest for DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license, as reported by the Huffington Post, CBS4 Miami and several other media outlets.

Bieber entered his not guilty plea to all charges on January 29. His attorney made the written plea in Miami-Dade County.

New reports from the police department show that Bieber's alcohol breath tests were under the legal driving limit for a minor.

The arraignment is scheduled for Friday 14. According to Florida law Bieber does not have to be present.

High-profile attorney Mark Shapiro is one of three attorneys representing Bieber in the DUI case.

Last week Bieber, along with R & B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff, were arrested in Miami Beach. Arresting officers described the two as illegally drag racing at about 4:00 a.m. – one in a Lamborghini and the other in a Ferrari.

Neither singer has been charged with drag racing though it is illegal in the state of Florida.

According to the officers, after stopping Bieber, the teen cursed several times at the police officers.

Bieber admitted to smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol and taking some kind of prescription medication that he didn't know the name of.

Miami Beach police officers reported that of the four alcohol breath tests that Bieber submitted only two were usable – due to insufficient volume of breath in the other two.

At 5:37 a.m. a third breath test was administered. The reading on that one came back at .014. The fourth test, taken at 5:40 a.m., came back at .011. An underage driver in Florida is allowed to drive as long as their alcohol breath test reads under .02 percent.

Bieber also gave police officers a urine sample. The results of the sample were not available at press time. If the test shows THC in his system – which is the active ingredient in marijuana and in some prescription drugs – experts agree that he can still be tried for driving under the influence.

Police documents described Bieber as being "excited, talkative, (using) profanity, cooperative, insulting, and cocky" during his arrest. Officers also detected the odor of alcohol on his breath, his eyes were bloodshot and his face was flushed. During his field sobriety tests Bieber couldn't maintain a heel-to-toe walk, had difficulty making a turn while keeping his balance and failed to follow a moving object very well with his eyes.

One officer also detected the odor of marijuana emanating from Bieber as he sat in the back of the police cruiser. When the officer asked Bieber about the marijuana the teen readily admitted, "We were smoking all night at the studio."

Bieber said that though he didn't know what prescription drugs he took he know they were for anxiety and that "my mom takes care of all that stuff for me."

Sharieff's alcohol breath tests showed up as .00 and he also gave a urine sample to police.
