One woman is lucky that she did not kill a decorated Marine last July in a drunk-driving accident. She was not lucky enough, however, to avoid jail time for her actions.
Last July the woman was driving intoxicated when she pulled up to a red light. She failed to stop in time and struck the motorcyclist from behind. He flew off his bike and landed on the pavement in such a way that doctors did not believe he would survive his injuries.
Doctors worked to repair his injuries including a lacerated kidney, lacerated liver, partial decapitation and blood on the brain. The woman drove away from the scene of the accident, leaving the man to die on the street. Fortunately for police, several eyewitnesses followed her vehicle, which ultimately led to her arrest.
The woman pleaded guilty to the charges against her of felony hit-and-run and DUI with injury. She was sentenced to 4.5 years behind bars.
If you have been arrested for DUI and face serious charges, it is important that you hire a
DUI attorney as soon as possible.
