A young exotic dancer was found guilty of battery, DUI, escape and fleeing to elude after a May 2011 incident that left one man dead and a deputy injured, as reported by the Huffington Post.
B.M., 23, has been sentenced to a 15-year prison term. She had faced charges of attempted murder in regards to the injuries sustained by Pasco County Deputy A.G., and, still faces a charge of first-degree felony murder in causing the death of motorcyclist, H.M., 67.
According to police reports, single mother B.M. led Pasco County Sheriff's Department personnel on a high-speed chase after being stopped for DUI. She was placed in the rear of a police cruiser following her arrest and proceeded to work one of her hands free from a set of handcuffs.
She used her free arm to reach through the vehicle's open window, open the door, ran out and was able to get into to her own vehicle, a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Deputy A.G. pursued B.M. to the truck, jumped onto the running board and reached inside the vehicle to try and remove the keys from the ignition. Instead, the vehicle started up, and B.M. proceeded to drive onto U.S. 19.
As the truck reached a speed of 70 mph A.G. lost her footing and fell from the vehicle, sustaining numerous injuries that included a concussion, a broken left tibia and cuts on her arms.
In court, A.G. told jurors that the reason she lost her footing was because she "was pushed out of the truck and with the speeds we were going, I was no longer able to hang on."
B.M. claimed to have been under the influence of prescription drugs that made her high during the incident. She also denied pushing A.G. from the truck.
According to drug testing both oxycodone and Xanax were found in B.M.'s system following the incident.
B.M. told the court, "As I was driving off, I didn't realize that deputy (A.G.) ... jumped onto the side of the truck as I was pulling away ... The whole incident is fuzzy."
A Pasco sheriff's tow truck driver, who had been at the scene to impound B.M.'s truck, said that he also saw A.G.'s fall. The driver said that he rushed over to help move her out of the lanes of oncoming traffic. While the driver assisted A.G., she allegedly told him, "The b**** pushed me out the window."
The incident did not end after A.G.'s accident. B.M. continued to lead sheriff's deputies another 8 miles – with speeds nearing 100 mph.
Once B.M. reached Hernando County, she ran a red light and crashed into H.M. on his motorcycle. Her vehicle came to a rest after the accident and H.M. as pronounced dead at the scene.
The death was not shared with jurors during the trial.
B.M. further testified that following a 2009 car accident that she was involved in she became addicted to oxycodone.
