Prosecutors in King County have charged a man with vehicular manslaughter that occurred last Wednesday.
According to court documents Lagrant Darnel Pegram, 35, ran a red light, causing an accident that killed the 21-year-old driver of the other vehicle involved. When officers arrived on the scene and conducted a BAC test he was found to be at 0.24, which is three times the legal limit in Washington.
While Pegram did admit to driving the SUV that was involved in the crash, he did deny responsibility in causing it. However prosecutors have brought to light video evidence that Pegram did in fact run the red light and T-bone the victim, who had entered the intersection legally.
This is not Pegram's first run-in with the law. He is already a convicted felon and has previously been arrested for driving under the influence. When the crash happened he was on community custody.
