Man Faces Felony DUI Charges for Death of Girl

The man responsible for the death of a young girl now faces felony DUI charges for his role in the DUI accident.

Sean Quintero, 18, was driving his mother's Toyota when ran into another car on Highway 101 last week. There wre four other passengers in the car, three of whom sustained minor injuries while the fourth, seventeen-year-old Margaret Qaqish, was thrown forward upon impact and died.

Her mother, Raya Qaqish, told the California Highway Patrol that her daughter would have turned 18 this Saturday. Qaqish wasn't sure whether her daughter was wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred and police have yet to inform the public of those details.

Quintero was brought to the San Mateo Superior Court to be arraigned on charges including gross negligence, vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence causing injury. According to District Attorney Steve Wagstaff the teen is being held without bail and could spend as many as 11 years in jail if found to be guilty.
