Police in California to Conduct DUI Checkpoint
Posted on Aug 29, 2011 5:00pm PDT
Although the California Highway Patrol announced that it will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint this weekend, they did not reveal the exact location.
The checkpoint, which will be held somewhere in Santa Cruz, is just another effort by local officers to cut down on drunken driving. Each year one-third of all fatal accidents in Santa Cruz are caused by drunk drivers, a fact that can easily be changed through more policing and public awareness.
One officer added that if people don't want to be arrested for DUI, they should simply refrain from operating motor vehicles while intoxicated.
This campaign to end drunk driving is sponsored by the Office of Traffic Safety through an annual grant. The CHP encourages drivers to report any incidents of impaired driving that they witness on the road.
If you were arrested for DUI during a checkpoint, it is time to seek the help, guidance and resources of a DUI lawyer in your state of residence so you can start fighting your charges!
