Officers in Tehama County are cracking down hard on drunk driving, especially as the summer draws to an end.
Working with the California Highway Patrol, Tehama County officers are conducting a program which is an annual initiative to stop drunk drivers from hitting the roadways. In the county, two more individuals were arrested last weekend for DUI, a 22-year-old male and a 33-year-old male, both from a nearby city. One of the men caused a DUI accident, while the other was seen driving erratically late in the night. Both were charged with DUI and taken to jail following their arrests.
The campaign began on August 19th and is scheduled to last for 18 days. So far, eight arrests have been made, two more than last year. Even more patrols will be on the streets over the next week to catch drunk drivers at DUI checkpoints in Tehama County. Officers are urging drivers to either catch cabs or hand the keys over if they have been drinking.
