Costa Mesa DUI Checkpoint Proves Successful

A DUI checkpoint in Costa Mesa was successful in capturing several DUI offenders on Saturday. In total there were seven DUI investigations, two DUI arrests, an unrelated arrest, 21 citations, 35 driver's license investigations, and 10 vehicles towed.

The checkpoint was located on Harbor Boulevard south of Victoria Street. 806 vehicles drove through the checkpoint; 733 were screened.

Police officers also confiscated a replica of a semi-automatic pistol, a handgun that is similar to the kind that law enforcement uses.

This checkpoint like many others in recent weeks was funded by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety. The purpose of these checkpoints is to educate the public about the dangers of drunk driving and keep them vigilant on the road.

If you or someone you know has recently been arrested on DUI charges, you should find a DUI attorney who can help.
