Pennsylvania DUI Offender Uses His Brother's ID

In Reading, Pennsylvania, it is reported that a man was stopped for suspicion of driving under the influence months ago.  When police asked to see the man's identification, he showed them his brother's ID instead of his own.

At the time of the incident, his brother was away on his honeymoon.  When his brother returned from his vacation, the 42 year old was arrested by police for DUI in Reading.  The brother, Bernard Marrero, sought help from a defense attorney who sorted out the situation with police.  Once the mix-up was explained, police went after Marrero's 39 year old brother, Samuel Marrero.

Samuel Marrero was placed under arrest on September 28th.  At this time, he remains in Berks County prison for his drunk driving offense.

Law enforcement said that at the time of his DUI stop, Samuel Marrero gave them his brother's date of birth and social security number.  The stop occurred on August 6th.

Chief Douglas Knoblauch of Berks Township said that police often hear people say, "You've got the wrong person", but in this case, it happened to be true.
