Jason Richardson Accused of Drunk Driving

On December 21st, Jason Richardson (26) was stopped by a Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Office, who believed that the Phoenix Suns guard was driving under the influence (DUI).

At 2:48 AM, the officer stopped Richardson on the Loop 101 freeway, which intersects with Thomas Road.  A citation was filed by the officer in West Mesa Justice Court.  The citation listed the time of the arrest, accused Richardson of drunk driving, and also accused him of failing to drive in one lane.

The officer also accused Richardson of speeding in the citation.  The officer said that he clocked Richardson at 65 mph in a 55 mph zone.  Richardson was traveling south while driving on the freeway in his 2008 Mercedes Benz.

After he received the citation, Richardson was released from the officer's custody pending a preliminary hearing for his DUI related charges.  The hearing is yet to be scheduled at this time.  Richardson has hired Larry Kazan, an experienced DUI defense lawyer, to represent him during his legal proceedings.
