In Clarksville, Tennessee, police recently arrested a woman named Maria Elise Carrington for
driving under the influence (DUI). Police report that last Friday, Carrington was driving under the influence of alcohol with a 7 year old girl riding as a passenger in her car. Carrington was stopped by police after she crashed into a bus on New Providence and Plum Street in Clarkesville. None of the passengers on the bus were injured. However, the 7 year old girl was rushed to a local hospital and suffered a broken arm.
When police approached Carrington's vehicle, they noticed that there was a strong scent of alcohol coming from her car. Police asked the woman if she had been drinking and she admitted to consuming beer prior to driving.
Police immediately arrested Carrington and charged her with DUI and vehicular assault. Her serious criminal charges were filed today in a local criminal court. If convicted, Carrington will face monetary fines and jail time. She may also have her driver's license suspended.
