School Bus Driver Charged with DUI

In Auburn, Massachusetts, it has been reported that school bus driver was stopped for suspicion of DUI after she was spotted swerving into oncoming traffic.  The driver, 43 year old Lisa Delorto, had just dropped students off at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School right before police were contacted at 11 AM.  Police were called by witnesses who thought Delorto was driving erratically.

Moments after calls were placed to police, law enforcement units spotted the empty bus swerving into the westbound lane on Route 20.  Once police were able to stop Delorto on Washington Streets, they asked her to perform field sobriety tests.  She consented to the tests and then failed them.

Police then searched her vehicle, where they found bottles of hydromorphine and lorozapam.  When police asked to see her prescriptions for the medications, Delorto said she did not have them with her.

Auburn officers charged Delorto with driving under the influence of narcotics, driving negligently and also a marked lanes violation.  Delorto was released on bail after pleading not guilty.
