There are plenty of reasons to travel to Canada from the United States. From the mountains of the Canadian Rockies, to the rugged Yukon, to Canada's glaciers, the Northern Lights, and the dramatic coastlines, there's so much to see.
Just a few of Canada's points of interest, include:
- Niagara Falls
- Banff National Park
- The CNN Tower
- Stanley Park
- Royal Ontario Museum
- Jasper National Park
- Butchart Gardens
- Lake Ontario
Are you planning on travelling to Canada for work, to visit friends or family, or for that once in a lifetime vacation? You shouldn't encounter any snags in your travel plans unless you have been convicted of a crime in the United States, and this includes driving under the influence (DUI).
Entering Canada With a DUI Offense
Anyone who has a criminal record may not be allowed to enter Canada. As a general rule, Canada prohibits people with DUIs from entering their country. In some cases, a waiver of exclusion may be issued, however, it usually takes several weeks and the individual must pay a processing fee.
On the other hand, a single DUI conviction won't usually deny entry into the United States. If the person has multiple DUI convictions or a DUI conviction in combination with other misdemeanor convictions, then he or she may be inadmissible. In that case, they may be required to obtain a waiver before entering the United States.
