Bobby Brown, the famous rapper and Whitney Houston's former husband, was allegedly arrested for a DUI on March 26th, 2012 in the San Fernando Valley. He was only a few miles from his home when he was caught. The arrest occurred at about 12:20 p.m. A California Highway Patrolman said that Bobby Brown was pulled over for talking on his cell phone while he was driving through town, but once he was stopped the policeman proceeded with field sobriety tests. The Los Angeles Times says supposes that Bobby Brown's DUI could be related to the recently released autopsy of his former wife, Whitney Houston. The famous singer was pronounced dead in a Beverly Hills Hotel last month, but her cause of death was not known until March 22nd.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's office believes that Whitney Houston drowned in her bathtub inside the hotel due to a heart condition which was triggered by cocaine. The trauma of his ex-wife's death may have motivated Bobby Brown to go out driving with a high alcohol BAC. Magazines and tabloids criticized Brown after Houston's death because he did not immediately travel to be with his daughter. He was then disdained by the press when he left Houston's funeral early due to a seating miscommunication. Oftentimes people will turn to alcohol in dark times, because it helps to full the senses and erase bad memories for a time. Because alcohol is a common comfort for many in hard times, depressed people have a higher probability of receiving a DUI.
Bobby Brown was married to Whitney Houston for 14 years before their marriage dissolved. During their time together, the couple spent some time as the subject of a reality T.V. show called "Being Bobby Brown." When the two divorced in 2007, Whitney Houston was granted custody of their daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown. Bobby has been reported for drug-abuse, and suspicions of domestic abuse. The San Francisco Chronicle states that Brown is in custody at a Van Nuys Jail. Law enforcement sources say that Brown was drinking alcohol prior to his drive through the Reseda area.
According to the law, a highway patrolman must have a legitimate cause to pull over a driver. In this case, Brown was talking on his cell phone while operating his vehicle. This is illegal under California law, and every year many people are fined for this offense. It is also a chief reason that men and women are issued DUIs. Drunk people may not be able to reason through the implications of using their cell phone while driving, and this can become the means to their arrest.
This is Bobby's second DUI arrest. His first run-in with the highway patrol was in 1996, when he was jailed for eight days for driving under the influence. This occurrence happened in Georgia. Regarding this recent conviction, sources say that Bobby was given a sobriety test which read 0.12% BAC. Because 0.08% is the legal limit, Brown's readings are material for a weighty conviction. According to one magazine, Brown's "people" are working fast to get him out of jail, and he plans to pay the bail as soon as possible. If you have been convicted of a DUI, you are probably upset, depressed, and worried about your future. The best thing you can do is get a lawyer involved immediately. Do not take any actions until you have hired a DUI attorney and then discuss your case with him or her. Oftentimes breathalyzers can give false readings, or a policeman can make a serious mistake.
